What's the difference between a locate investigation & a missing persons investigation?
A locate investigation is considered an attemp to find an old friend, a relative, a classmate etc.
This usually involves database searches consisting of the individual's name, date of birth, social security number and past address. Locates are usually found within a matter of days.
A missing person investigation involves getting out and physically searching for an individual, interviewing neighbors, witnesses, co-workers, friends and working with the law enforcement entity where the missing person report was taken. This investigation can take days or weeks to track down a missing person. Often times, the person is either a child, an adult with alzheimer's or someone with mental deficiencies who has wandered off. In other instances, the case can turn into an actual kidnapping or abduction.
