Pre-Employment Background Screening

Many people have asked me why pre-employment background screening is so important in today's world. Here's a few examples of why these should be mandatory for every business to have done:

Education:
To verify that an individual has a diploma or degree
(Over 60% of applicants lie about their education on applications)

Criminal Records:
To find out in an applicant has a criminal record prior to hiring them

Social Security Number
To verify that the person is who they say they are and that they are legal
to be in this country

Wants & Warrants
To find out if the applicant is wanted or has a warrant for arrest by any law enforcement

Protection Against Negligent Hiring Lawsuits
If you hire an individual with a violent criminal past and that individual commits a violent
act against you or your employees and you didn't conduct a background check to find out
this past information, you could be looking at being sued for negligent hiring. Losing a
negligent hiring lawsuits can bankrupt a small business as the cost can be in the million
dollar range.
